Common faults and solutions of the running gear of dedicated railway diesel locomotives

When the wheel sets, axle boxes, traction motors and other parts of the running gear of the enterprise specific railway diesel locomotive fail, the locomotive crew must have a certain understanding of the common faults and their handling methods that occur in the running gear of the diesel locomotive due to various technical limitations.
The common faults in the running gear of internal combustion locomotives mainly include the following 7 types: grinding and burning of the bearing shell, burning of the axle box bearing, burning of the traction motor bearing, loosening of the wheel rim, cracking of the wheel rim, loosening of the gear, and out of groove or flying of the axle box spring.
1. Rolling and burning the bearing shell
After the bearing shell is crushed and burned, it is easy to strain the axle neck, causing the wheelset to be scrapped. If not dealt with in a timely manner, the wheel axle will heat up due to dry friction, and the heat will be transferred to the gear and axle box, causing the grease to fail or even burn due to heating, further developing into a vicious accident of gear relaxation and wheel axle hot cutting. Therefore, it must be dealt with in a timely manner. The specific steps are as follows:
(1) Slowly move the locomotive to a location with a trench within the station (section), and take measures to prevent the locomotive from slipping.
(2) Remove the gearbox, remove the axle oil box, and take out the lower tile and oil absorber.
(3) Slowly move the train and check if the surface around the axle neck is severely strained. If the strain is severe and tungsten gold is stuck on the surface, it should be polished smooth with an oilstone.
(4) Under the electric motor, place a sleeper on the inner side of the steel rail along the trench edge, use a jack to lift the traction motor, and remove the upper tile.
(5) Check the condition of the bearing shell and oil absorber, and investigate the cause of burning. If the bearing shell is only crushed and not burned, it can be scraped with a scraper; If the burn is severe, replace the bearing shell.
(6) Clean the axle oil box.
(7) Assemble the bearing shell, shaft oil box, and gearbox. Adjust the oil lubrication gap of the bearing shell to around 1.0mm appropriately.
(8) Install a new oil suction device in the axle oil box and inject clean axle oil; Inject gear lubricating oil (grease) into the gearbox according to regulations.
Remove the traction motor corresponding to the faulty wheelset, limit the locomotive speed to 50km/h and return to the depot for thorough treatment.
